BKCA7 CHAPTER RIDE TO WCC-BOISE 8/20/11
SUBJECT: BKCA7 CHAPTER RIDE TO WCC-BOISE 8/20/11 (Updated 4/12/2011 – Note first day meeting place change) (Updated 7/11/2011 – Note that the Boise Doubletree is actually in “Garden City”) With the able assistance of our Chapter Elf, Dennis Brown, we are planning a chapter ride to the WCC convention in Boise. If you are interested in participating, the first thing to do is go to the WCC website – www.bkwcc.org – and look for the link to “WCC Convention 2011”. You will find it on the right side of the page under “All Events”. When the new page opens, download the registration form, print it, fill it in and snail mail it back with your check. The fee is currently $90 per person. It goes to $110 after May 30. Next, contact the Doubletree Hotel Boise-Riverside, 2900 Chinden Blvd., Boise (actually “Garden City” for those of you programming your GPS), #1-208-343-1871 and make your reservation. You can do this on the Internet, if you wish. Make your reservation beginning on 8/21/11, and checking out on 8/25. Be sure to mention you are with the Blue Knights to get our room rate ($85 double occupancy). Our ride will take us to Lakeview, Oregon where we will spend the night, then leave for Boise the next morning. Therefore, you will want to promptly make your reservation at the Best Western Skyline Motor Lodge at 414 North G St., Lakeview, OR #541-947-2194. The room rate I got for a King bed, no smoking, etc. is $94.46 plus taxes. Prelim ride details: Day One - We will meet at Starbucks, 4490 Central Way in the Cordelia area at 0800 on Aug 20, 2011. Take the Suisun Valley Rd/Pittman exit from I-80…KSU at 0830. We’ll take I-80 to 505 to I-5 to Redding. From there, we take 299 to Alturas where we take 395 north to Lakeview. This is approx. 392 total miles. The Elf, his own self, D. Brown, will be advising us on the food and gas stops all the way to Boise. Day Two: We take 395 north to Burns, OR for a gas and lunch stop, then we take 20 east to Ontario, then I-84 into Boise where we split off to I-184 and our hotel on Chinden Blvd. Chase car: We’ll have one. My wife, Tina, has driven chase car in the past, but her Grand Cherokee has changed into a smaller VW Passat wagon, and can’t carry as much of your gear. Nonetheless, she is ready, if necessary. What we need are a couple of ladies to help with the driving so that those ladies, like Tina and Rhoda, who wish to ride a few miles can do so. Also, be prepared to contribute a few bucks for gas for the chase car. Any questions, drop me a line at JD@Blueknights.org ~RwP~
