Fellow Knights, Pete has asked me to take over as the ride director for our ride to the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony, Friday, May 9th, at the Capitol Mall, Sacramento. Due to the formal, and solemn nature of this event, I am requesting that we dress uniformly, and professionally. Please wear a white dress shirt, black tie, black jeans or riding pants, and a black riding jacket. But if your jacket isn’t black, no problem; you can always take that off when we get to Sac, and simply don your vest. If you wear a badge on your vest, please wear a black ribbon across the badge. If you wish to wear a cap make it a black Blue Knights baseball cap, (or other black, professional LE logo ball cap). A little polish on the boots wouldn’t hurt either, ‘k? Meet at the Vallejo Lyon’s on Admiral Callaghan Lane; be ready to go, with a full tank of gas, by 0815. I plan on getting us to the Mall, and parked, with plenty of extra time before the public portion of the ceremony begins at 1030. The ceremony concludes at 1230. We’ll leave for a lunch ride down SR 160, along the Sacramento River. The usual lunch spot has been Al’s Place (aka: Al the Wops) in Locke. But I will offer a couple alternatives to the group this year: Orilla Del Rio in Walnut Grove (this was the Mexican restaurant in option-1 for those of you who were following the Back Roads voting poll in our Yahoo Group.) Or, Rogelio’s in Isleton, which serves Mexican, Italian, Chinese, and American foods. If we have a large turn out of bikes, please be prepared to ride in smaller groups.
