Chapter VII Photo Challenge

Sometime in the next few weeks a series of nine photographs will be posted on our chapter web site. The subject matter of the photographs will be my motorcycle in front of a specific location in one of each of the nine Bay Area counties. The object of the challenge for you will be to ride to those locations, and take your own photograph with your motorcycle in the picture. (Click the Photo Look tab to the left)

Sound easy? The catch is I won’t tell you where the photograph was taken. Well, not precisely. I’ll tell you the county, and give you some clues. Then it’s up to you to solve the riddles, ride to the locations, and obtain the photo bonuses. Ride it solo, or get together with one or more of your riding friends, and ride with them. Once you have the digital photos of your bike at the locations, email them to me as attachments.

For each correctly obtained photo location, you will get your name placed in a drawing at the chapter Christmas party in December.  For example, if you only get one location, your name goes into the drawing once. If you obtain the correct photo bonus for all nine locations, you get your name entered in the drawing nine times.

What do you win? I’ll let you know as soon as I, and the rest of the board figure that part out. But it will certainly be nothing less than the glory and accolades of your fellow knights. And maybe a Starbucks gift card.

More rules:

When: Send the photos to me one at a time, or all at once. Ride the tour any time you like — over a several month period, or go out and get all the locations in one big day ride around the Bay. However, my email server must receive the photos no later than 23:59 hours on November 30, 2008, to be eligible.

How: Environmental and traffic conditions may change at any given location from day to day, but try to compose your photos as close as practical to the original photo I took. At a minimum, your bike and the subject matter of the original photograph must be clearly identifiable in your photo — no exceptions.

Group rides: If you are riding in a group, and you take a group photograph of the bikes, it will be acceptable if one person sends me one photo attachment on behalf of everybody who rode to that location. But, each rider’s bike must to be clearly visible in the photo — and the email must tell me whose bike is whose in the picture. Again, try to set things up as close as practical to the original. If you cannot manage that with the whole group, then take the time to photograph everybody’s bike separately.

Two-up couples: Riding with your S.O.? Cool, they can enter too! But the wife/passenger must personally appear in each photo, along with the bike, to claim the location for both of you.

Chapter event credit: Although you can claim less than all nine locations, and be entered into the Christmas drawing (again, one entry per photo) — to claim the event for a chapter ride credit you must fully complete the tour by obtaining all nine locations.

You must be present at the Christmas party to be eligible for the prize drawing.
