I was approached at the Christmas Party by some members that showed
interest in participating in the Ride for Kids task force this year.
If you'd like to attend our 1st meeting of 2008 and see if you'd like
to get more involved as many of us already are, we are scheduled to
have a Task Force meeting this Sunday, January 13th, at 0900 hrs.
We're meeting at the "Curves" health studio, located at 100 Railroad
Avenue, Unit D in Danville.

Remember, start getting your sponsorships and donations for the
Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and the Ride for Kids as soon as
possible and make our Chapter the leader in 2008 for donations
collected for the kids.

I received the December 2007 copy of "BMW ON"-- the monthly magazine
of the BMW MOA (Motorcycle Owners of America), a couple weeks ago, or
so. While the magazine is officially a membership newsletter, it is in
reality a professionally published monthly magazine. Like most of my
monthly subscriptions it sits on my desk for awhile until I get time
to take it into the, …uhumm…, "library". Yeah, we'll call it the library.

So, there I am in the library thumbing through the pages, and I come
to page 48. Gosh, there are pictures of guys in motor uniforms -- they
ride Beemers. Hey! I know those guys!

Three of our own: JD Diskon, Michael Oliveria, and David Reimers, are
highlighted in an article titled, "Motor Escort Service", written by
Richard Klain.

Looking good, guys.

As all of you know, our Chapter is again supporting the "Ride for
Kids", both the ride in Pleasanton on June 29th and the Woodland ride
on October 5th. I will give a short presentation regarding the
charity during the business meeting this Sunday, and you'll be able to
get your RidePackage Sunday, too.

This year I'd really like to see our Chapter surpass all the other
bayarea clubs in fundraising for this worthy event. Of course, our
Chapter will receive Nationwide recognition, if we win this challenge.
Here's 2 ways you can fundraise and ride in the event for free.
Start collecting donations from family, friends and neighbors. If you
do that, your $35 entry donation will be covered by your sponsors, and
hopefully, you'll raise substantially more then the minimum $35. Of
course, there'll be special premiums given as awards for those that go
beyond the minimum donation.

If you already know that you will NOT be riding with us in June or
October, go to my website at: www.firstgiving. com/CaptJohn and make a
direct contribution to the "Ride for Kids". When you do so, make sure
and write in the "Comment" area your "Chapter": BK CA VII AND the name
of your favorite "Dealership" .

The club/chapter and dealership that I receive the most contributions
toward will receive the entire balance of funds raised on my website
credited toward that club/chapter and dealership. That will go a long
way toward the total dollars raised by our Chapter.

Since last year, Louise and I have made a large commitment to the
Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and the "Ride for Kids". We are now
Task Force Leaders, in charge of Club and Dealership Visitations.
Needless to say, we can use all the help we can get doing those
visitations; so, don't be shy this Sunday. If you can help us, let us
me know at the party.

Babs and Jim Alexander discovered another great way to support the
PBTF. Here's what Babs told me, "...What if "Ride for Kids" earned a
penny every time you searched the Internet? Or how about if a
percentage of every purchase you made online went to support our
cause? Well, now it can!

www.GoodSearch. com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates
half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the
charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search
engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations
add up!

www.GoodShop. com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 37
percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great
stores including Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy's and Barnes &
Noble
have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order,
you'll be supporting your favorite cause.

Just go to www.goodsearch. com and be sure to enter the "Pediatric
Brain Tumor Foundation in Ashville, NC" as the charity you want to
support.

So, that's it for now. I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday at
the Christmas Party. Let's all pull together on this charity so that
we can truly...

Ride with Pride,

John Fredriksson
