Fellow Knights
For those paying attention to our web site, you probably know about the scheduled Ride and Shoot Ride on our calendar for next Saturday. We tried to pull this off last year but ran headlong into logistical and insurance issues.
This year had the same potential, until I realized that my buddy and former OPD officer had his annual 218 qualifying shoot for retirees set for the same day. After some last minute calls I was able to open it up to our Blue Knight membership as well!
Here are the details:
We will pony up at the Dublin Chevron Station at Dublin & San Ramon Valley Blvd (across from Hooters) at 9:30 AM. We will kick the tire and light the fires at 9:45am for a quick jaunt through the Pleasanton / Hayward hills. We will end up at
a private residence / range : 26164 Clover Rd., Hayward,
CA 94542.
1. This is a charity shoot. The purpose is to raise money (this year for
our summer youth program) and provide retirees with the qualification they
need so they can carry concealed nationwide under LEOSA.
2. LEOSA (the Law Enforcement Officer's Safety Act) allows all qualified
retired LEO's to carry concealed nationwide if they have a photo ID from
their agency endorsed for concealed carry AND a valid qualification card for
the current year.
3. If you have the proper ID card from your agency, we will run you
through the required qualification shoot (no matter which agency you're from)
and issue you the necessary qualification card so you can carry nationwide.
4. You need to bring $50.00, your handgun and 50 rounds of ammo for your
gun. We will supply eyes, ears and the targets . A rangemaster will inspect
your gun if you have any questions to ensure serviceability.
5. To thank you for coming, we will be giving all attendees one of the
most useful pieces of equipment ever created by the US Military, a brand new
military P-38. If you don't know what that is, ask a Vet.
6. We'll have food and drinks for sale to help raise money. We will have
coffee, other drinks, fruit and donuts in the morning. Around lunch time, They will be serving pasta and world famous homemade tamales. We'll have salad, bread and
probably be grilling Italian sausages too.
7. We will be auctioning some stuff off as well. Some of the things we
have to sell are .270 caliber shell casings made into pens, fired .45 brass
cut and made into cufflinks, a picture frame made out of .223 and .50
caliber casings. The guys from SEAL Team 2 sent 3 folders they use as leave < br>behinds; 2 have a SEAL logo, 1 has a Marine Corps logo and a Kirpan from India
taken form a Pakistani in Afghanistan. 7th Group sent some of the new CIA
letter openers and there's a few other things.
8. We have a big pool area and everyone is welcome to use it and enjoy
the day. All guests are also welcome to shoot after the qualification.
9. You don't have to shoot and are more than welcome to just come by,
enjoy the camaraderie and the day with us.
